Trade and investment opportunities Investment Opportunities

Australia has been a traditional supplier to Mauritius with merchandise exports to Mauritius totalling A$86.49 million in 2010 – 11. Much of this was sourced from Western Australia. Principal exports were dairy foods, meat, wheat and cereals, fruit and vegetables, wool, paper, live animals, stockfeed and miscellaneous manufactured goods. Imports from Mauritius, mainly clothing, totalled A$10.72 million in 2010 - 11.

Perth is the mining, oil and gas ‘capital’ of Australia and a growing regional and global mining centre. Some 200 Australian mining and energy companies, most of them headquartered in Perth, have projects in Africa. Mauritius, with its political stability, economic prosperity, world-class infrastructure and services and links into both Anglophone and Francophone Africa, is ideally placed to act as the “gateway to Africa” for these companies through the provision of financial and fiduciary services.
